The Snow Queen Floating Mobile with elements from the CreateAlongBox

The Snow Queen Floating Mobile by Klio Tsaliki

A few days ago I received my December Create Along Box, which was snowflake themed.   It contained a mold, a 6 piece Texturestax stamp set, and a silkscreen, all snowflake themed, a Brilliance ink pad and a terrific mica powder in blue hues and a round mat board photo frame.  I wanted to make something different and decided to make a floating mobile.

The ink and mica powder was the perfect way to accent and highlight the details of the stamped and molded snowflakes.  Beads and other sparkling elements further added to the frosty feeling of the mobile.

You can view the complete instructions here: https://goo.gl/FmJbGL

What do you do with mica pigment powders and polymer clay?

We have launched 2 new pigment sets and recently have been asked what do you do with them. Seasoned clayers have been using them for years but those of you who are new to working with polymer clay are about to get a real treat! Powdered pigments or mica pigments which ever you want to call them are a great way to add color to your projects. You can use them to highlight texture, add color to clay, stencil with them, silkscreen with them and so much more. See the video for some fun ideas. We have packaged the pigments 3 different ways as we know all of us like to work differently. You can find them at this link

The Heart of Winter Ornament with the CreateAlongBox

The Heart of Winter Ornament by Patricia Krauchune

This winter ornament was made by using the November Winter Wonderland CreateAlongBox.com box from CreateAlong.com   This month the CreateAlongBox included a 2-way silkscreen, a Texture Stax with 6 different crystal designs, a snowflakes silicone mold, a chipboard ornament to cover with clay, some DewDrop Brillance Heat-set ink and Sparkly icy mica powdered pigments. I added a glass ornament in the middle and filled it with vintage glass glitter and some mica flakes.  I finished the edges with vintage glass glitter. And of course I had to include some ball chain for a slight steampunk look.

Frosted Snowflakes Pendant polymer clay createalongbox project

Frosted Snowflakes Pendant by Cindi McGee
The November CreateAlongBox.com Winter Wonderland Box arrived at my doorstep full of everything I could imagine needing to create awesome wintery designs!   This pendant uses many of the elements from the kit - the snowflake silicone mold, the texturestax snowflake stamps, the mica powder, and the
pearlescent ink pad.    A mandala flower stamp, also from CreateAlong.com, did double duty as a large snowflake for the mica shift technique used as the base of the center of the pendant.

I used premo Sculpey® Accents - Pearl and White Gold Glitter clay, and  premo Sculpey® white clay for some components. The finished piece has a subtle shimmer and sparkle that reminds me of new fallen snow!

How to attach polymer clay to glass, tile, coffee mugs, tips and tricks, glues and mechanical connections

In this updated tips and tricks video, Kira explains the most popular glues and methods for attaching polymer clay permanently to smooth non-porous surfaces such as glass and tile. These techniques also work for metal tins and objects.

This is really important stuff if you are giving a polymer clay gift or selling your work- you don't want the clay to fall off. You also don't want to use a non-compatible glue that might break down the clay over time.

The silicone tools, cutter shapes and other fun stuff you see in the video can be found in our CreateAlong shop.

Creating a Polymer Clay Sugar Skull Tin Tutorial

I love sugar skulls and what they stand for, cherishing the memories of our loved ones. They are especially fun to make around Halloween. I have lots of little things that my new kitty Spunky can get into so I though what about making a little tin to hold them in. Of course she did try to chew on the top of the tin but I can keep that out of her reach. LOL I show you on today's Polymer Clay TV how to add polymer clay to the top of a tin to embellish it. These make great gifts too and you can adapt to any season or occasion.

Do you love our grab bags? Well today we have 12 that are going on sale. They have a value of over $40 but they are just $30. If you want to try and snag on here is the link for them. https://gumroad.com/l/qCcYi

We are getting ready to head out to Polymer Clay Adventure in Paradise in the outer banks of North Carolina. Next week we will have Polymer Clay TV from there. See you then!

This months theme for our Create Along box was celestial and since I love the theme I thought I would create something fun and easy using a bunch of the components. This polymer clay wall piece is small enough to fit anywhere and makes a great gift too! I incorporated a few techniques, image transfer, silkscreen, molding and embedding pearls.
You can find most of the products used in our shop at CreateAlong.

Learn to use your polymer clay tools in new ways. Create a flower brooch without a flower cutter!

Sometimes you have an idea but you don't really want to use "standard" tools to create it. In this video, I'll show you how to use a tool that wasn't actually meant to create petals and leaves, but it actually makes really beautiful flower parts!

So if you have a bunch of cutters and other tools lying around, learn to see them for more than just the shape that they are. There are so many hidden shapes and textures all around you just waiting to be used in your polymer clay creations.

The cutters, ball stylus, and pigments used are from the shop at CreateAlong.com.

We are excited about Polymer Clay Adventure 2018! Here's why...

We are in our 4th year with PCA, and each year we strive to gather a balanced grouping of classes so that you will have something fun and different to learn from year to year, and get introduced to new teachers around the world while also enjoying techniques from your favorites! We are excited to have Lisa Renner join us once again with a funky art doll she calls "The Wee Kins." In the first year, her Bathing Beauties was such a hit that we had students all over the globe upload photos and we took a group shot!
We are hoping that we can once again take a group photo of the Wee Kins that PCA students create.

We have a second art doll option with LaLa Ortiz this year, AND you get to learn how to cover a glass bottle.
This doll's head also functions as the cap!

And of course there is Arlo, a figure sculpted onto metal and offered up by SuperSculptor Amy Hucks- to satisfy the need for fantasy and fairyland that so many of us seem to have!

EvaMarie is known for her horse sculptures, and in this year's event you will have a chance to learn some of her techniques. I know that I am looking forward to making my own Kurbits horse!

And those are only a few of the 24 classes that are included in one payment of $99. Individually these classes are $40-$75, so the "value" of Polymer Clay Adventure to us is priceless.

We hope you will join us - the classes begin on January 1, and before that we have community building activities and fun. Then your membership continues throughout the whole year of 2018. What a wonderful way to spend a year learning, creating, and sharing!

Bollywood Inspired Polymer Clay Wall Art

Let your imagination soar with this fun polymer clay wall plaque. I used the long silk screens and the heart word bubble silk screen to create this fun and easy Bollywood inspired wall piece. Make sure NOT to bake your piece on the board I made the mistake and it puffed up and stuck only in parts to the clay and I couldn't remove it. So it's best to make a template on a regular piece of paper and lay your pieces out and bake and then glue to the board. I found out the hard way so you don't have to make that mistake!.

This week we announced the classes and teachers at Polymer Clay Adventure 2018. Make sure to join in the first 3 days so you get entered to win a goody bag and a chance to win the golden ticket. Tickets go on sale this Sunday, September 24th.
